ELIMINATION! EAGLES ARE THE WORST TEAM IN NFL’S WORST DIVISION

By Michael Grimm

The Eagles gagged away their only shot at a second consecutive division title with a 37-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles got off to a 14-3 lead in the first quarter but quickly fell apart, as Andy Dalton and the Cowboys offense ripped through the Philly secondary throughout the afternoon. Dalton led six scoring drives in an impressive performance against the Eagles’ struggling defense.

The Eagles had a shot at a Week 17 “win and in” scenario due to Washington’s 20-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers, but they couldn’t handle their business against Dallas. This loss exposed rookie QB Jalen Hurts’ decision-making and Doug Pederson’s lack of in-game creativity. It also shined a spotlight on defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz’s stubbornness.

It was an embarrassing showing by the Eagles, who looked to have new life under the dynamic play of Hurts. Instead of following through with the hype of the past two weeks, the Eagles squandered a massive opportunity to win the NFC East.
