There are still 18 days until the Eagles open training camp at NovaCare, and there is so little “news” in Philly that doesn’t involve the Summer Sixers.
So, let’s mind wander about salaries!
Carson Wentz is in year two of a four-year, $26.6 million contract. His $6.06 million cap charge accounts for just 3.5 percent of the Eagles’ $171.3 million cap total, per the NFLPA website.
Because he’s a first-round pick, the Eagles can pick up Wentz’s fifth-year option for 2020 at the average cost of the 10 highest-paid players at his position, a number which could exceed $25 million by 2020.
