EAGLES WOULD HAVE TOP NFC SEED IF THE SEASON ENDED TODAY

By Mary Cunningham

For all you weak-in-the-knees NFL experts who claim the Eagles aren’t really a great team, notwithstanding their 5-1 record as they take a week off this Sunday’s bye, let me remind you what the great Al Davis said about that:

“Just win, baby!”

If the season ended today the Birds would be the top seed in the NFC. And if the Arizona Cardinals win this weekend against Davis’s former Oakland Raiders , the Eagles next game will feature a matchup between the top two teams in the NFC.

Sure, the the Eagles have looked like an incomplete team for most of the season — partially due to injuries, partially due to poor play — but after their dismantling of the Giants, they stand at 5-1 and on top of the conference.

NFC

2) Arizona (4-1)
3) Detroit (4-2)
4) Carolina (3-2-1)
5) Dallas (5-1)
6) San Francisco (4-2)

AFC

2) Cincinnati (3-1-1)
3) Indianapolis (4-2)
4) New England (4-2)
5) Denver (4-1)
6) Baltimore (4-2)
