The Athletic is reporting that New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will meet with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie Sunday to discuss the vacant head coach position.
McDaniels has started to recruit the coaching staff he would bring to town if hired, The Athletic added, but this would be his first formal interview.
The Eagles have interviewed at least five candidates in person. Two coaches interviewed, Robert Saleh and Arthur Smith, have accepted head-coaching jobs with the Jets and Falcons, respectively.
McDaniels has been the Patriots’ offensive coordinator since 2012, his second stint with the team after working for New England from 2001-08. He was 11-17 as the Denver Broncos’ head coach from 2009-10.
