The Jets haven’t been to the Super Bowl since 1969.
When Lyndon Johnson was still president.
When Joe Namath beat the Baltimore Colts and an 18-point spread in Super Bowl 3.
So, yesterday’s trade for Aaron Rodgers seems like a swing for the fences.
And how does it affect the Eagles?
They are scheduled to play the Jets at MetLife, date uncertain.
What is certain is that Rodgers trade from Green Bay makes the NFC weaker.
Rodgers is gone.
And Tom Brady is gone.
But the conference seems as weak as it’s maybe ever been, and it’s hard to look at most of its teams – probably aside from the Eagles and San Francisco 49ers, last year’s NFC title game participants – as legitimate championship contenders.
