EAGLES SIGN VANDERVELDE, STURGIS TO REPLACE GARDNER, PARKEY

By Barbara Harrison

The Eagles have moved quickly to fill two holes created by injuries suffered Sunday in the 24-17 win over the Jets.

They placed starting right guard Andrew Gardner and Pro Bowl placekicker Cody Parkey on injured reserve ending their seasons after just three games.

The Eagles re-signed offensive lineman Julian Vandervelde (above) to replace Gardner. This is Vandervelde’s eighth incarnation with the Eagles since he was drafted in 2011. He’s also spent time with the Buccaneers.

And they also signed kicker Caleb Sturgis to replace Parkey.
