Birds’ big boss Howie Boy Roseman (above) is on the clock!

It’s 16 degrees as I write this and I am planning to hunker down and watch today’s two Wild Card games.

So it is a perfect time to ruminate about what the Eagles need to do to escape the prison of 7-9 and make it to next year’s postseason.

The Eagles will have around $12.5 million dollars to spend in free agency, which doesn’t leave them a lot of wiggle room.

Don’t forget, this money must also be used to sign rookies from the draft. Overall, it will certainly be a slow free agency for Philly even if they don’t re-sign any players now out of contract.

Should the team find a way to renegotiate some contracts this offseason and cut a few dead weight players, then some room for deal making could open. Given the lack of depth and talent at a few key positions, this would be good news for the Eagles.

Players like DeSean Jackson, Kenny Stills, and Terrelle Pryor could all be targeted by Philly in an effort to boost their receiving game. Positional groups such as the offensive line could see an influx of youth and role players to help give it some depth next season. All would be great ideas for the Eagles as they try and bounce back from a subpar 2016.
