EAGLES RUNNING ON EMPTY: WHO WILL CARRY THE ROCK IN 2016?

By Lewis Gould

So, Eagles big boss Howie Boy Roseman:

After all your wheeling and dealing in the offseason, who exactly will be running the ball come September?

Ryan Mathews (above), barring any injury, will be the starter for the team Week 1 against the Browns.

The battle will be for playing time more so than the starting role. In Kansas City, the offense utilized a boatload of backs including Jamaal Charles, Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware.

Coach Doug Pederson hopes to do the same with the Birds.

Darren Sproles, Wendell Smallwood, Kenjon Barner and Byron Marshall will all be competing for playing time behind Mathews.

Sproles has been absent from camp, leaving the door open for others to take advantage. If one of these names impresses the coaching staff, they could be getting some carries throughout the season.
