Carson Wentz, who hasn’t thrown a pass in anger since December 9, 2018, because of a stress fracture in his back, has already been anointed by Eagles coach Doug Pederson as their quarterback for 2019.

But 2018 Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles is the QB Talk of the Town.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding what they intend to do with Foles.

Many assumed the Eagles would do what they could to make sure they get something in return. However, according to Cecil Lammey of 104.3 The Fan in Denver, it appears they will simply part ways:

According to sources, it sounds like #Eagles will let Nick Foles walk free and clear. Not enough space for tag and trade scenario. Will get 3rd compensatory for him.

It is no secret that Foles is in the midst of a comeback story unlike any the NFL has seen. He managed to lead the Eagles to an upset win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII en route to MVP honors. The veteran was able to prove that his magical run was no fluke after another strong showing in this year’s postseason. Although Philadelphia came up short, there is no question that his prospects are looking strong this offseason.

This is why many assumed that the Eagles would try to strike while the iron is hot by doing what they can to trade Foles.

Although the Birds could still pick up his option, he could buy his way back into free agency.

They would then need to franchise tag him in order to retain his rights and offer him up for a trade, however, it appears that the front office is looking to avoid all the hassle by simply letting him walk.
