The Eagles open camp at NovaCare in one week — next Tuesday, July 27.
Their fans have a lot of hope and expectation that last year’s disastrous 4-11-1 can be swept away by the new crew of coach Nick Sirianni and top draft pick DeVonta Smith and QB Jalen Hurts.
But sportsbooks have taken a cold, clear look and PointsBet has them lined at 6.5 wins.
That’s because the Birds have questions at quarterback and receiver, plus concerns around the health and age of their offensive line.
They struggled on defense last year, allowing an above-average amount of points and yards per game, and were unable to make any big acquisitions via free agency or the draft to bolster that unit.
In a season with 17 games, 6.5 wins is a surprisingly low number for a team that features a high-upside quarterback and multiple first-round receivers.
However, if things don’t pan out for Hurts, a seven-win season could be a pipe dream. This line looks right, but back Hurts and the over.
