The Athletic’s Bo Wulf said he “would be surprised at this point if we don’t see [Gardner] Minshew start some games this season.”
The Eagles continue to struggle on offense, and Wulf says head coach Nick Sirriani “needs to back [Jalen] Hurts completely until he’s ready to make a move, even if he’s considering it behind the scenes. But if Hurts continues to regress, the Eagles will owe it to themselves to give Minshew a look. The reasons you outlined are true, although I do think there’s value in evaluating Minshew as the Eagles move into the offseason.”
Hurts has gotten a lot of garbage time production — both through the air and on the ground.
His overall numbers are paltry:
Hurts’ 7.1 yards per attempt is 22nd among all QBs; his adjusted completion rate is 29th; and his completion rate while under pressure (31 percent) ranks 31st.
