Professional bettors have been attacking the NFL futures market for months, but for those of you still pouring your way through the data, I felt today presented a good opportunity to take a look at this season’s Super Bowl odds while analyzing how far some of these lines have moved since hitting the board last winter.
Courtesy of the LVH SuperBook (soon to be Westgate Las Vegas, formerly the Las Vegas Hilton), you’ll find the complete rundown of openers and current odds listed below. One of the more surprising options comes in the form of the Houston Texans who, despite a 2-14 record last year and with a mountain of uncertainty at the quarterback position entering August, are listed at just 25/1, ahead of teams like the Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers, all of which qualified for the playoffs last season.
Speaking with LVH SuperBook assistant manager Jeff Sherman, the renowned Vegas betting shop has written the most tickets on the Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints. However, the teams that have received the most love in terms of total money wagered include the Seahawks, 49ers, Saints, Denver Broncos and New England Patriots.
As for the plays I’ve already made? Well, I’m sure there will be more to come in the next month, but at the moment I’m riding Indianapolis, Philadelphia and New Orleans.
