As expected, the Eagles announced today that former Browns offensive coordinator John DeFilippo would be the new quarterbacks coach under head coach Doug Pederson.
The only and obvious question is which quarterback will he be coaching?
With DeFilippo in place, the only obvious hole on the Eagles’ coaching staff is a defensive line coach.
The 37-year-old DeFilippo has local roots. He played high school football at Radnor, before becoming a backup quarterback at James Madison.
DeFilippo spent just one season as the Browns’ offensive coordinator. He was the quarterbacks coach for the Raiders from 2012-14 and 2007-08, with San Jose State from 2010-11 and with the Jets in 2009.
As QBs coach in 2009 with the Jets, he coached rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez, who led the team into the playoffs. Sanchez is the only quarterback the Eagles currently have under contract.
