EAGLES MINICAMP TOMORROW: SOMETHING REAL TO REPORT ON!

New back-up QB Chase Daniel will flex his arm.

At last, starting tomorrow, the Eagles will be able to fit their new pieces in with their holdovers as minicamp opens at the NovaCare complex.

It didn’t take Doug Pederson’s predecessor, Chip Kelly, long to put his stamp on the team. He changed everything from the way practice was run, to the music being played, to the lay of the NovaCare complex.

All Pederson’s regime has done so far is banish the media to a fancy new-look building about as far away from the players and coaches as possible without leaving the complex.

All we know so far is that coordinator Jim Schwartz is going to play a 4-3 scheme as his base defense. Is it going to be the wide-9 that failed miserably here under Jim Washburn at the end of Andy Reid’s tenure, but that Schwartz has used in the past?

How is Connor Barwin going to adapt to being a down lineman. Are the safeties going to be as interchangeable as they were in Billy Davis’ scheme? Will it be a one-deep, or two-deep look? These are all the things that remain to be seen.

When quarterback Sam Bradford arrived via trade from the Rams a year ago, he had to deal with the fact that his jersey wasn’t being sold in the team store and all the Marcus Mariota rumors. Now, even after signing a lucrative two-year contract, there are still rumors about the Eagles drafting a quarterback in the first round of the draft.

Banished far away from the personnel side of things a year ago after losing a power struggle with Kelly, Howie Boy Roseman is the man in charge and everyone knows it. Now, let’s see what kind of effect it has on the day to day operations of the team and how much influence he carries over Pederson and his coaching staff.

Things began to go downhill for the Eagles when kicker Cody Parkey suffered a groin injury in the preseason and then again after the first game of the regular season. It wasn’t the only reason the team struggled, but it set a bad omen for sure. It will be interesting to see if Parkey is back to full health and ready to take back his kicking job from Caleb Sturgis.
