LIGHTER DEMARCO LOAD NOW WILL PAY OFF IN DECEMBER FOR EAGLES

By Sarah Berkowitz

Chip Kelly believes that the lighter DeMarco Murray’s training camp load in August the more he’ll have left in the tank in November, December and beyond.

Murray had one of the heaviest workloads in NFL history last year with the Cowboys, with 497 total touches. Now, in his first training camp with the Eagles, he’s taking it easy.

Murray has spent a lot of time watching from the sidelines or working with the trainers during camp, and he says that’s a good thing. Murray thinks he’s getting the right amount of work to get ready for the season and keep himself fresh.

“I think there’s a difference between getting the reps you need and getting too many reps,” Murray said. “Not trying to kill each other out here.”

Eagles Kelly believes that giving players proper rest and recovery is vital to getting them ready to play. He’s wisely letting Murray take it easy in camp, so that he can get his body ready for another season of hard work.
