The NFL’s shameless money grab continues tonight with the Eagles traveling to Jacksonville to play the Jags.

Originally previewed as a match between two former QB teammates, Carson Wentz and Nick Foles, that won’t happen.

Both just signed multi- million dollars contracts, and both teams wisely won’t risk injury weeks before opening day.

Back-up QB Nate Sudfeld was injured in the first preseason farce versus Tennessee last week — fortunately for the Eagles, Sudfeld had surgery on the wrist and was back at practice the next day with his arm in a sling. He says he’ll be back quicker than the original six-week prognosis.

As for starter Carson Wentz, who appears to look better than ever entering his fourth NLF season:

“I trust Doug’s plan, I’ll stick with that, he’s got a reason for what he’s doing, I’m more than ready to get out there and play, but I’m good either way to play”

The NFL preseason is too long — hopefully one day the league will see that too, but counting on the NFL to give up millions as just another money stream won’t happen totally.

Cut it down to two games is all fans can see on the horizon. Until then the September 8th opener versus the Redskins when real bullets start flying is what Eagles fans are enthusiastically waiting to get here.
