EVEN HURTS COULDN’T MAKE UP FOR ZERO SACKS, NO BIRDS RUN GAME!

Leading 24-14 at halftime over the Chiefs, the Eagles had to know they needed to play another solid 30 minutes to win the Super Bowl.

They did not, losing 38-35 in the closing minutes on a Chiefs FG.

Two strengths during the season — rushing the football and pass rushing — went out the window in this championship game.

The D line had been spectacular all season but couldn’t lay a glove on Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes the entire game, even though he re-injured his bad ankle when TJ Edwards caught up and tackled him at the end of the first half!

Quarterback Jalen Hurts played very well, but his costly fumble resulting in a Chiefs touchdown was a backbreaker. It was the margin of victory as the Chiefs took the fumble into the end zone.

Losing the turnover battle usually determines the winner.

It’s a shame a great season has to end like this, but the Eagles appear poised to make more postseason appearances in the next few years.
