EAGLES’ D-BOSS ON KENDRICKS: ‘PRACTICE DOESN’T MEAN ANYTHING!’

By Annie Ross

So, what does the Eagles’ defensive coordinator think of the overpaid Mychal Kendricks’ performance at linebacker?

“Practice doesn’t mean anything,” Jim Schwartz said today when asked about Kendricks. “I don’t want to go all Allen Iverson, but it’s all about how you perform on Sunday.”

Kendricks was on the field for just 43 percent of the team’s snaps against the Lions last Sunday. Similarly to last season’s Eagles loss to the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, Kendricks seemed to be targeted by Detroit’s offensive coaching staff as running back Theo Riddick hauled in six receptions for 33 yards and two touchdowns, primarily when Kendricks was on the field during Sunday’s 24-23 Eagles’ loss at Ford Field.

“He’s been good at rushing the passer well,” Schwartz said of Kendricks. “I think that that showed. He was able to get a sack and a deflection on one. He’s a key part of our defense and he’ll always be involved.”
