Trade rumors abound about the future of New York Jets star safety Jamal Adams.
The All-Pro has been rumored being traded to the Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks, among others.
Despite the uncertainty, the former LSU Tiger will still report to the Jets training camp.
Back in April 27, the Jets decided to pick up the fifth-year option on Adams’ contract. However, the team failed to reward the two-time Pro Bowler a contract extension. Adam took his frustrations to Instagram and replied to a post stating that the Jets were “A lot of talk, no action”.
On June 18, Adams officially requested to be traded from the Jets with two years left on his rookie contract. Despite the news, Jets’ head coach Adam Gase and defensive coordinator Gregg Williams expressed that they wanted to keep him. It has already been a month but Adams has failed to find a new home.
The 24-year old player recorded 61 solo tackles, 2 forced fumbles and 7 passes defended through 14 games played in the 2019 season.
If the two sides fail to advance negotiations on a contract extension, Adams may very well be on the way out. His services can be better utilized by playoff teams who are looking to add a defensive star to bolster their squad.
His potential exodus from New York will ultimately hurt the team’s chances of making it back to the playoffs after a 10-year absence.
