NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports the Eagles have “made progress” on re-signing free agent Fletcher Cox to a new contract.
There was belief Cox’s Thursday release was mostly salary cap smoke and mirrors.
The new deal would be a pay cut, but not a sizable one.
Originally set to be guaranteed $18 million on Thursday, Cox’s new contract would reportedly still send $14 million his way.
Cox is a beloved figure in the Eagles organization, and he is still quite good even if his play has fallen off a bit the past year or two.
Headed that way, according to sources. Not done yet. https://t.co/X68M60j0Zm
