Several NFL teams inquired on the availability of Josh McCown:

“More than anything, it was the comfort level I had talking with Doug, where they’re trying to take this thing and where they’re trying to get back to and understanding the expectations that they have here,” McCown told the Eagles web site. “It was an easy sell, to be quite honest.”

With McCown, the Eagles get an experienced quarterback who can also provide great locker room presence. But of course, there is no denying he can still do some damage on the field. To sync in, the NFL veteran needs to study the Eagles playbook and try to learn a new kind of offense.

Being around for 18 years in the league, he is not expected to have a tough time figuring it out.

“I’m a huge fan of what Doug does. A huge fan. I’m looking forward to seeing how Doug runs the team and how he oversees the offense. This is an ideal situation for me,” said McCown who will enter his 18th NFL season.

McCown fills in the needed quarterback depth the Eagles need. Nate Sudfeld and Cody Kessler are down with injuries. So far, he has made 2,628 passing attempts compared to the combined 374 of Sudfeld and Kessler, Forbes.com reported.

With McCown in tow, the Eagles fortified the QB spot in their pursuit for another Super Bowl. Regardless, the bigger question is will this be his last NFL season or not.
