Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery’s 2019 season is over.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, he will be sidelined the rest of the year while the Eagles continue to determine the severity of the injury:

Not exactly a surprise but source with knowledge of Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery’s injury status says his season is over. They’re still gathering opinions about what exactly is wrong with his foot but he’s done for the year.

This is a blow to the Birds’ playoff hopes and raises speculation about his health going into the offseason.

Perhaps even more concerning is the manner in which it occurred after Jeffery went down without sustaining any contact. Reports suggest that he may have heard something pop in his leg. Regardless, all signs are pointing to their No. 1 wideout missing the rest of the year.

The injury to Jeffery could not have come at a worse time for the Eagles with the playoffs hanging in the balance. They have successfully managed to close the gap between them and the Dallas Cowboys for the lead in the NFC East and will need to win out if they hope to secure a spot in the postseason.

Unfortunately, this will be much easier said than done with quarterback Carson Wentz shorthanded on offense.
