Redshirt 6-10 sophomore forward Dylan Painter is transferring from Villanova.

He appeared in 25 games since coming to Villanova and started the 2018-19 season opening 100-77 victory over Morgan State on Nov. 6.

”This is a very sad day for all of us in our program,”  coach Jay Wright said in a statement. There is not a player more loved or respected on our team than Dylan Painter. Dylan has decided he wants to go to a program where he can play more. He’s been such a valuable asset to our program that we want him to be happy – he deserves it. Dylan’s been a very important member of this program and we all wish him the best.”

Painter appeared in 23 games as a reserve as a freshman in 2016-17, registering a career high with 10 points and six rebounds in a Big East Tournament victory over St. John’s.

In 2017-18 the 6-10 forward redshirted, practicing each day as the Wildcats posted a 36-4 record and captured the NCAA national champion. In 2018-19, Painter appeared in two games, averaging 2.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per outing.
