COVEY’S ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE START: 7 RUNS, 2/3 OF AN INNING!

By Bob Gibson

Dylan Covey was smacked around in the Phils loss to the Braves, giving up seven runs (five earned) on six hits in just 2/3 of an inning.

The brutal inning on Sunday included a pair of towering home runs — a 464-foot two-run moonshot by Matt Olson and a 412-foot blast by Matt Olson.

He was mercifully pulled after facing nine hitters, and the two inherited runners that he left on base ultimately scored after his exit.

Covey didn’t get a single swing and miss on 30 pitches in the game, registering a complete failure of a 13 percent CSW. It’s unlikely he’ll make another start for the Phillies.
