Eagle running back Ryan Mathews suffered a groin injury during Friday’s practice, which puts his status in doubt for Monday night’s Eagle-Giants showdown at the Linc, but his running mate has no doubts.
“Whatever they decide,” DeMarco Murray said of splitting carries with Mathews. “I can only control what I can control.”
Eventually, however, Mathews will be 100% — and the two will presumably go back to splitting carries.
Murray has 49 carries this season, only eight more than Mathews. Although Murray has played in one less game, he has only 130 yards rushing, well behind the 205 Mathews has gained so far this season.
“I think he’s running it great,” Murray said of Mathews. “He’s a tough running back. Tough to defend, tough guy to bring down. I think he’s been doing well.”
