Darick Hall went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI as the Phillies edged the Blue Jays 6-5.
Hall already figured to open up as the DH against righties with Bryce Harper absent, but he’s a lot more important to the Phillies now after Rhys Hoskins’ season-ending injury.
He finished the spring at .316/.409/.632 with five homers in 66 plate appearances, and that has quieted any sense of urgency to bring in a replacement for Hoskins. It still might be necessary eventually, but Hall has earned a long look.
