KNEBEL COULDN’T CLOSE: PHILS MELTDOWN OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS!

By Sam Bush

Corey Knebel went 2/3 of an inning while allowing three runs on four hits while blowing a save in an 8-7 loss to the Mets.

The Mets entered the ninth inning down 7-1, and it didn’t look like Knebel would be necessary.

He was, and hree runs were charged to the closer, but he allowed another that was charged to James Norwood, and he picks up his second loss of the season and his first blown save.

Knebel has mostly been effective in the closer role, but this was ugly, and the Mets get their first win in 331 tries when down by six runs in the ninth.
