COLTS' LOSS TO EAGLES IS ON ME, QB LUCK ADMITS

By Ben Sullivan

The Eagles beat the Colts, 30-27, on Monday night at Lucas Oil Stadium, and the Colts’ loss will lead to a lot of second-guessing in the Indy media.

But not by Colts QB Andrew Luck.

With 5:15 left and the Colts — already leading 27-20 — driving to pad their advantage, Luck was intercepted by safety Malcolm Jenkins at the Eagles’ 16 when receiver T.Y. Hilton seemingly was pulled down. While officials likely blew the call, many will wonder why the Colts were throwing the ball in that situation.

The Eagles drove to the tying score — a 6-yard TD pass from Nick Foles to wide receiver Jeremy Maclin with 3:25 remaining.

After forcing the Colts to punt, Philly drove to the game-winning field goal, thanks to a 19-yard catch-and-run by running back Darren Sproles.

Here are some quickie quotes from Colts quarterback Luck, who completed 20 of 37 passes for 172 yards, three TDs and the crucial interception.

On the late interception: “You can’t turn the ball over in the red zone when you’re about to make it a two-score game.”

On whether there was holding on the INT: “It doesn’t matter what I think. It was an interception. At the end of the day, that’s what matters.”

On why the Colts, already in field-goal position, were throwing in that situation: “A TD is better than three points. If we can convert that, we can get [the TD]. We had a good chance and couldn’t take advantage of it.”

On his performance: “I wasn’t sharp enough to get into a rhythm.”
