Cliff was shut down last July 31 after leaving the mound in a game against the Washington Nationals with a sore elbow.
He threw eight minutes of live batting practice at spring training on Wednesday.
This is what passes for good news in the Phillies’ 2015 training camp.
“It felt good, felt normal, no complaints,” Lee told reporters afterward. “We discussed just easing into it, making sure we don’t do anything stupid early, you’re better safe than sorry early. But everything feels good.”
Lee, like many of the veterans on the Phillies’ roster has been the subject of trade rumors throughout the winter and a strong spring would go a long way towards giving general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. the best possible opportunity to pull the trigger on a deal.
