CHIPPER IN NINERLAND: WILL EX-EAGLES COACH GET ALONG WITH GM?

Hiring the edgy, introverted Chip Kelly is a very interesting and inherently risky thing for the Niners to do–just one year after the 49ers fired Jim Harbaugh because he wasn’t a very comfy personality, either. Kelly is going to do interesting things with the 49ers offense. He’s going to set a structure, he’s going to have tons of rules, he’s going to focused in a way that Jim Tomsula (or a Jim Tomsula team) could never be.

But Kelly’s fit with GM Trent Baalke? Man, that’s going to be wild, even with assistant GM Tom Gamble–a former close associate of Kelly’s in Philly–in there to smooth the way. With these two dour personalities, I just can’t see how that will work over the long haul.
