Smith with Eagles president Don Smolenski and Kelly

Now that the Eagles rookies made it to last weekend’s mini-camp, the analysis continues in Eagles land. As former Eagle and talk show host Garry Cobb so aptly observed a few years back, many still reside in “Negadelphia.”
First round pick Marcus Smith has been dubbed a “reach” by some, even though NFL.com graded out the player above, 25th pick Chargers Jason Verrett at 5.9; 26th pick Smith at 5.6; and 27th pick, Cardinals Deone Buchanan, 5.7. All three about right where they were picked!!
I’ve heard that coach Chip Kelly’s not accessible enough. What!!
I watched a 19-minute post draft press conference with the coach giving detailed, in-depth analysis of every player taken, his strengths, and why the pick was made. I had to replay it three times just to stay up with him.
I just don’t get what more this guy can do — maybe a little soft shoe.
The Eagles organization is building a solid, winning team, piece by piece, and most Eagles fans see that and appreciate what’s happening here. The others who bash the Eagles for ratings and a desire to continue to live in Negadelphia will fall by the wayside in due time.
