BUFFALO WILL THROW LOTS MORE DOLLAR BILLS AT SHADY MCCOY

By Michael McCarthy

Shady McCoy is supposedly pissed off that he was cast asunder by the Eagles — traded for LB Kiko Alonzo.

After all, how could the Birds possibly do without him?

Well, the Buffalo Bills are going to make him feel better.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports that the final piece of McCoy’s trade to Buffalo will be a revised contract for McCoy. He currently has no guaranteed money in 2016, which could change. A source familiar with the Bills thinking says the team will “take very good care of him.”

McCoy was already due close to $25 million over the next three seasons. Buffalo would not trade a great young defensive building block like Alonso unless they believe McCoy is going to be part of the team for the rest of his contract.

Giving McCoy more money seems unnecessary considering the relative value of running backs around the league, but perhaps guaranteeing him some of his contract will make the jarring trade go down smoothly.

This is the first offseason under new owner Terry Pegula, and the organization has already shown they aren’t afraid to go after big names.
