BROCK PURDY MAY MEET TOMMY JOHN: NINERS QB DUE FOR SURGERY

By Mark Donovan

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports Brock Purdy suffered a complete tear of his ulnar collateral ligament in the NFC Championship against the Eagles.

Eagles pass-rusher Haason Reddick got to Purdy and forced a fumble, and the injury in the Niners sixth play of the game.

Purdy will reportedly seek a second opinion on his injury, but Pelissero reports the hope is he will undergo a repair rather than a total reconstruction (Tommy John surgery).

If doctors can repair Purdy’s UCL, the hope is he would be ready for training camp.

Purdy was forced back into Sunday’s loss to the Eagles after Josh Johnson left with a concussion, but said after the game he wasn’t able to throw much more than 5-10 yards downfield.
