The Eagles started voluntary OTAs on Monday, and James Bradberry was a no-show.

His absence didn’t go unnoticed, and it may have repercussions.

Bradberry basically sucked last season at cornerback after making Second-Team All-Pro in 2022.

Speculation abounds over Bradberry’s future with the Eagles, particularly after the team’s decision to draft Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. This has led to conversations about whether Bradberry might be on his way out, potentially as a post-June 1st cut. This move would allow the Eagles to spread a $15.1 million dead-cap hit across two seasons, a considerable sum that reflects his value and impact on the team’s financial planning.

However, it’s crucial to remember that the Eagles have not made any definitive statements about Bradberry’s future. His absence at OTAs, while intriguing, might not necessarily correlate with his standing on the team. After all, other notable players like Lane Johnson, DeVonta Smith, Josh Sweat, and Kelee Ringo were also not present.

When practice concluded, Darius Slay, one of the Eagles’ key defenders, shared that he had spoken with Bradberry, stating his friend was in high spirits and eager to mentor the younger members of the team. This indicates that whatever the speculation around his future, Bradberry remains committed to contributing positively to the Eagles.
