BLACKHAWKS SWAMP DUCKS 5-3; FINALS START WEDNESDAY IN TAMPA

The Chicago Blackhawks earned a spot in the Stanley Cup finals for the third time in six seasons by defeating the Anaheim Ducks, 5-3, on Saturday night in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals at Anaheim.

Game 1 of the Cup finals, against the Lightning, is set for Wednesday at Tampa Bay.

As he has done countless times, Jonathan Toews, Chicago’s captain, led the way. Toews, who won the 2010 Conn Smythe Trophy as that postseason’s most valuable player, scored two goals, and goaltender Corey Crawford made 35 saves.
