José Alvarado pitched a perfect ninth in a one-run game for a save against the Rockies.
The Phillies are acknowledging that Alvarado is their best reliever, though that still doesn’t mean he’ll wind up getting all of the save chances.
He’s already been busy, pitching 9 1/3 innings in the Phillies’ 21 games and allowing just one run.
Incredibly, he has an 18/0 K/BB ratio. Just two years ago, he walked 47 (42 unintentionally) in 55 2/3 innings.
