ALONSO AND KENDRICKS OUT SO EAGLES ADD ILB GOODE

By Jack Ryan

After inside linebackers Kiko Alonso and Mychal Kendricks went down with injuries, the Eagles signed veteran Najee Goode, a familiar face around the NovaCare Complex.

Goode, originally a fifth-round pick by Tampa Bay in 2012, was claimed off waivers by the Eagles before the 2013 season. He played well in his first season for the Birds on both defense and special teams, recovering a fumbled snap for a touchdown on a punt play against the Giants.

After missing almost all of 2014 with a torn pectoral muscle suffered in the season opener, Goode was part of the final round of player cuts before the start of the 2015 season. The Eagles are once again relying on Goode to provide quality depth at the inside linebacker position.

To make room on the roster, the Eagles released offensive lineman Julian Vandervelde.
