ALL HAIL HOSKINS — NL PLAYER OF THE WEEK!

By Sharon Ming

Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins and Mariners outfielder Julio Rodríguez were named MLB Players of the Week.

Hoskins led the majors in home runs (four), slugging percentage (1.158) and OPS (1.678) last week.

It’s the continuation of what has been a month-long hot streak as Hoskins has racked 17 extra-base hits, 17 runs, 17 RBIs and 17 walks over his past 26 games.

The Phillies went 17-9 during that span. They have also won five of eight games since a broken left thumb sidelined reigning NL MVP Bryce Harper on June 25. They sit just one game out of a playoff spot, largely thanks to Hoskins’ performance.
