NOLA (5 RUNS, 4 2/3) AGAIN SHOWS PHILS CAN’T DEPEND ON HIM!

By Sally Fahey

Aaron Nola struggled against Pittsburgh, allowing five runs in 4 2/3 innings, giving up nine hits and walking three while striking out six.

The veteran was getting swings and misses with a 33 percent whiff rate and 36 percent CSW, but the contact he did give up was loud with five hits coming 99 mph or harder.

Nola has now allowed at least three earned runs in four of his last six starts and has a 4.43 ERA on the season.

He also has the lowest strikeout rate since his rookie year in what has been a disappointing season for the veteran.
