There’s no escaping the fact that Super Bowl betting is big business. And last night’s Eagles-Chiefs game drew billions of dollars in wagers, online and in betting parlors.
Top English Premier League players have given the Super Bowl some attention this year, and the Tottenham Hotspur NFL teammate challenge is well worth a watch.
When it came to deciding on where to place your money, there were numerous markets to be aware of. We’re going to take a look at some of the most popular markets.
What is the Super Bowl?
Before we take a look at the markets, it’s worth taking a moment to look at what the Super Bowl actually is.
Having first been played back in 1967, this annual event sees the winners of the National Football Conference and the American Football Conference going head-to-head. The winner becomes the NFL champion for that season.
The New England Patriots have appeared in the most Super Bowls. They have also gone on to win six of them and this gives them the joint record with the Pittsburgh Steelers. This year, however, didn’t lead to one of these teams edging ahead as the action featured the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
When it comes to betting markets, betting on the outright winner is perhaps the most popular option.
Looking at how things stood at game time, the Eagles were a 1-point fave.
The reality is that, while both teams topped their respective Conferences, both Kansas and Philadelphia have had a bit of an easy ride through the playoffs. Neither has faced any real challenges and neither has needed to show what they’re really capable of.
When you consider previous seasons, the roles of quarterback Patrick Mahomes and coach Andy Reid have been hugely significant and these two gave the Chiefs the edge.
An exciting Super Bowl needs to see plenty of scoring. When it comes to Kansas City , the favorite to take the first six points was Travis Kelce. He’s had a great season so far and the Super Bowl could be the perfect end.
When it comes to the Eagles, the ones to watch were Miles Sanders and Jalen Hurts.
Most Valuable Player
There was also the chance to wager on who will pick up the Most Valuable Player Award (MVP).
Mahomes and Hurts were the favorites. The former struggled with an ankle injury but he still had plenty to bring to the game.
Hurts hasda real opportunity to push and create a name for himself as long as his running opportunities aren’t limited.
