42 YEARS AGO TODAY, SIXERS DR J INVENTED HANG-TIME BY DOING THIS!

By Jerry Wein

It was Game 4 of the 1980 NBA Finals between the Sixers and Lakers at the Spectrum.

With 7:35 left in the fourth quarter, Julius Erving went baseline and took off.

After hanging in the air for what seemed forever, Erving contorted his body to get to the other side of the rim and laid in an incredible reverse scoop shot.

The Sixers won 105-102 to even the series at two games apiece before the Lakers won in six.
