2 MILLION SIGN PETITION TO CHANGE NBA LOGO FROM WEST TO KOBE!

By Peter Gleason

A petition to change the NBA’s logo to a silhouette of Kobe Bryant has received more than 2 million online signatures as of 1:30 p.m. ET today at change.org.

“With the untimely and unexpected passing of the great Kobe Bryant please sign this petition in an attempt to immortalize him forever as the new NBA Logo,” wrote petition organizer Nick M whose Twitter handle is @ThatGuyN1CK.

Bryant was one of nine people, including his daughter, Gianna, who died in a helicopter crash Sunday near Calabasas, California.

The logo used today is a silhouette of Lakers great and Hall of Famer Jerry West, who was a longtime Lakers player and front office executive — he traded for the drafted Bryant in 1996 — and now works for the Los Angeles Clippers.

Nearly three years ago, West told ESPN’s Rachel Nichols on The Jump that he no longer wants to be the NBA logo.
