villanova brings back dwayne anderson, nova, director
By Harry Allison
Dwayne Anderson, a member of Villaova’s Final Four team in 2009, has been named director of basketball operations, taking over for Mike Nardi, who was promoted to assistant coach.
The moves fill the void created when Ashley Howard left to become the head coach at La Salle.
Anderson played four seasons for Jay Wright and guided the Wildcats to the Final Four as a senior. In his four years at Villanova the Wildcats went 102-37. At the time it was the most wins by a class in program history and included a 9-4 mark in the NCAA tournament.
The 31-year-old Anderson has five years of coaching experience at the collegiate level.
He joined Pat Chambers’ staff at Penn State in 2013 after a four-year professional career in Germany and Italy.
He earned all-star honors in Germany in 2011 and 2013. He worked with the big men at Penn State and also was involved in recruiting.
