Eagles Hall of Fame receiver Tommy McDonald was a fan favorite!

For Eagles fans, there is nothing like a beautiful Sunday at the Linc when their faves are on display for free.
“I love the city of Philadelphia,” said wide receiver Riley Cooper after Sunday’s open practice at Lincoln Financial Field. “Our fans are the best in the world, the best in the NFL, and, for them to come out on a Sunday just to watch practice…they’re die-hard, man, and I absolutely love it.”
Linebacker Connor Barwin agreed that inviting the fans into the Linc is a boost for both players and the crowd.
“It’s awesome,” he said. “I’ve never been to a practice with this many fans.”
Because regular season games are expensive for some fans, the open practices give everyone an opportunity to come to the stadium to see the team in action.
“I love it because I get to come watch my boys,” Beryl Barnhart said, before being corrected by her nephew.
“They’re my boys,” Damian said. “I love the Eagles.”
And that love seemed to radiate from both the seats and field.
“It’s definitely fun,” Cooper said. “It has a game-time feel. It’s a game environment. It’s an open practice and we have 43,000 fans here. We gotta take it home for them this year.”
More than 300 members of the United States military were part of that 43,000 and were honored with a unique gift at the end of the day.
Each player removed their jersey — a special one with camoflauge letters and numbers — and presented that jersey to a member of the military.
“It’s great to have them out here,” Barwin said. “I thought it was a really great idea with Chip and whoever thought of it upstairs, that we gave them all our jerseys at the end. They seemed to really appreciate it.”
The first Eagles pre-season game is at the Linc on Aug. 16 at 1 p.m. against the Indianapolis Colts.
