The Phillies have announced starting pitchers for their first three spring games:
Minor League right-hander Mark Leiter Jr. will pitch tomorrow afternoon in an exhibition against the University of Tampa. Phillies pitching coach Bob McClure said he expects a few of the big league relief pitchers to follow him.
Right-hander Alec Asher (above) will pitch the Grapefruit League opener Friday afternoon against the Yankees at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. Left-hander Adam Morgan will pitch the home opener Saturday afternoon against the Yankees at Spectrum Field.
McClure said right-hander Jeremy Hellickson could pitch Sunday’s game against the Blue Jays in Dunedin. Hellickson is expected to be the Phillies’ Opening Day starter, although it is not official.
