The Phillies have signed No. 1 overall draft pick Mickey Moniak, and he will be introduced at a news conference today.
A high school outfielder from California, Moniak hit .476 with 12 triples, seven home runs and 46 RBIs in his senior year at La Costa Canyon High School.
The 6-2, 190-pound Moniak was the first prep outfielder selected No. 1 overall since Delmon Young went to Tampa Bay in 2003. The Phillies chose Pat Burrell the only other time they held the No. 1 pick in 1998.
