Sports bettors in the Philly region will soon have two venues to gamble on the NFL and everything else.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board yesterday approved sports betting for both the Parx Casino in Bucks County and its Turf Club facility in South Philly. Board spokesman Doug Harbach said there are still some regulatory hurdles pending, mainly approval of entities that will work with Parx, including oddsmakers, which means that November is the likely start date.
“There are firms that will be partnered with the casinos that will set the lines, there are also some that will operate the systems that will power the sports wagering. Those all have to also be vetted,” said Harbach.
Therefore, actual launch of sports betting in Pennsylvania may not happen until November at the earliest.
