Cole Swider is expected to pick Villanova from among four finalists at a press conference this afternoon.

The 6-foot-8 shooting forward had cut his long list of suitors to also include Duke, Syracuse and Xavier.

Swider took visits to Duke, Syracuse and Xavier in the last week. He becomes the latest New England impact recruit to pick a Big East school. Last Sunday, Boston’s AJ Reeves pledged to Providence after seriously considering Virginia, Louisville and Villanova.

Swider will announce his choice at the conclusion of a St. Andrew’s basketball camp today at 3:30 p.m.

Swider has shined on the AAU circuit with the Boston Amateur Basketball Club for the last several years and is expected to be rated among the top 50 prospects in the country entering his senior year with the Saints.

Swider would be the latest Top 100 recruit to sign on with Jay Wright and the Wildcats. Both before and after Villanova won the 2016 national championship, the ’Cats have chased the very best players in the country and currently are stocked with impressive, young talent.

Last season Villanova had one of the best freshmen in the Big East in Donte DiVincenzo. This year Wright will add redshirt big man Omari Spellman, Massachusetts wingman Jermaine Samuels, big forward Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree and point guard Collin Gillespie. Brandon Slater, a 6-6 guard from Virginia, became ’Nova’s first 2018 recruit last month.
