The NFL exhibition season opened last night, and the Eagles play their first game next Thursday against the Steelers.

So bettors are licking their chops.

But there are still no betting shops open in Pennsylvania, where the $10 million fee and 36 percent tax makes it virtually impossible for casinos or anyone else to turn a profit.

But Delaware and New Jersey are expanding.

Just last weekend Bally’s joined the Ocean Resort and the Borgata as sports betting in Atlantic City heats up.

Bally’s, Caesars and Harrah’s are the three Atlantic City properties owned by Caesars Entertainment. The sportsbook at Bally’s serves customers staying at Caesars. Harrah’s, located in the Marina district of Atlantic City, opened its sportsbook Wednesday.
