How much of a hot streak is Eagles’ running back Ryan Mathews on?
When you’re hot, you’re capable of hanging 128 yards on 20 carries, for a gaudy 6.4 average, and a touchdown against the previously run-tough Ravens.
That performance makes more sense when you consider that Mathews had been sneakily good since Week 6, averaging 4.7 yards per carry before hammering Baltimore.
The problem, as it has been most of the season, was that he hadn’t been getting a large amount of work, and with Darren Sproles (concussion) returning tonight, Mathews’s role could be limited again.
However, if he keeps playing like one of the better backs in the NFL, the Eagles will have to find a way to feature him.
